　　为呼应慈善主题，“壹基金”启动仪式虽然简洁朴素，但却吸引上百家媒体亲临现场，作为该基金管理委员会主任的李连杰一亮相便向媒体大要版面，表示“这绝不是娱乐新闻，请多给些版面致力推广慈善事业”。
　　自称从印尼海啸的鬼门关捡回命来的李连杰表示生命诚可贵，加之这些年来一直信佛，更是彻悟到一些人生道理，所以致力慈善事业并不是一时兴起，而是后半生的重要工作。随后，李连杰兴奋公布，目前筹集的善款已经达到400万人民币，除了企业大额捐赠以外，普通百姓也相当踊跃。据统计，通过手机捐款的就有11万人次，申请成为永久义工的人数也已经超过200人次。
　　对于为何取名为“壹基金”？李连杰耐心解释道：“壹，表示一个大家庭，每一个人每一天贡献一点力量，就能汇成爱的海洋。那么，这个基金主要是向各种灾难和突发事件中遭遇创伤的人士提供尽可能的人道援助以及解决青少年的心理问题，并提供各种形式的帮助。”
　　号召明星终身捐款
　　昨日的启动仪式上，李连杰请来好友周迅与徐静蕾(blog)前来助阵，两人素面朝天全然没有明星架子，并以永久义工的身份号召在场的人也参加到“壹基金”的活动当中，而周杰伦、刘德华、刘青云夫妇、陈可辛等人更是纷纷以VCR送来寄语，信誓旦旦表示愿意为该基金甘当一辈子捐款义工。对于各位大明星每月会将多少善款汇入“壹基金”户头，李连杰并不透露，只称有明星加入，媒体就会更加关注，推广也会变得更加容易。据称，周杰伦与刘德华每年将捐出999元人民币。
　　善款豪宅两者无关
　　一边筹集善款，一边在上海买地皮阔气建房，李连杰惨遭外界猜测。在接受记者采访时，李连杰坦言终于等来这个问题，自己好向媒体解释清楚，“买地皮差不多是1991年的事，我太太很喜欢上海，中国人有落叶归根的情结，房子是供我们夫妻养老所用，建房子都是在基金成立以前，外界大可不必担心我会贪污慈善款项。大风大浪都经历过了，我想这后半生将会一直致力于慈善事业。”
　　问及李连杰本人已经捐出多少善款，准备起身离场的李连杰表示：“我天天都会做指拇运动发短信捐款的。”据悉，李连杰本人已经捐款100万，三个月之后，他将再次宣布筹集的慈善款项数目。
