Buddhism: to learn from wisdom and to cultivate at the same time

You should know that there are no two differences between chanting scriptures and meditating; There were no two different methods compared to the three secret sects. It was just that the methods were different. To recite the Scriptures, one had to learn the three skills at one time: abstinence, concentration and wisdom.
You should know that the commandment is "all evil can't be done, and all good will follow it.".
When we read the Scriptures, we won't think too much. The Scriptures were the words revealed from the nature of the Buddha, and there was nothing better than this. Therefore, reading the Scriptures was the "pursuit of goodwill". Therefore, when they were chanting, they didn't need to cultivate the rules one by one. He had to concentrate on the cultivation of the Scripture.
When he read, he didn't make any mistake from beginning to end, and he didn't miss it. He read it clearly and clearly. This was Haley - Hannah. Hence, he practiced the scripture at the same time. If I study the Buddhist Scripture while reading, I will regard it as a book in the world. There is no such thing as abstinence, steadiness and wisdom. This is not called cultivation. Therefore, reading the Scriptures was the foundation and foundation of cultivation. Everyone should not look down upon them. If you want to choose a scripture, you can start from here. If you read one hour a day, you should cultivate one hour; Two hours was two hours. Of course, the longer the time was, the better.
I have practiced a lot in Taiwan and Dallas. They have read the amitayus Scripture ten times a day for more than two thousand times, so they are very familiar with the Scriptures. It only takes half an hour to forty-five minutes to read it. She read it ten times a day, and there were about five or six hours for her to cultivate. She had such a long time to cultivate every day. After a few years, she naturally felt relieved. After calming down, he went to read the scripture again, and his eyes were shining. Why? She understood what he meant at a glance. Buddhist Scripture -- Buddha's mind is revealed from the peace of mind. Our own peace of mind naturally corresponded to that of Buddha. How could we not understand it! Today, we can't understand the Buddhist Scripture, but the Buddhist heart is quiet and my heart is messy; Distraction doesn't resonate with peace of mind, so we can't understand what the Buddha said. That's the truth. Therefore, if you really want to get close to a good teacher and a good knowledge, you have to believe that he won't lie to you. The method he taught you must be correct.
Choose a scripture honestly: choose the amitayus Scripture to cultivate the pure land; The selection of the rooftop was the legendary rule Scripture; The one who cultivated the martial arts would choose the Scripture. Which sect, which sect do you cultivate? You can cultivate the Scriptures that my sect mainly cultivates. First of all, read the scriptures of the sect for five years; In other words, in the past five years, he must forget all the troubles and regain his peace of mind. This was the beginning of learning Buddhism. In fact, she could have a peaceful mind in the past five years, but now she couldn't. Because in the past, people's heart was less dirty and less dirty. They could wash it in five years. Now people were too dirty. Moreover, the people in the past were only stained when they were teenagers. They could have right and wrong, and they could be greedy, angry, infatuated and slow. Nowadays, children could be greedy, angry, infatuated and slow at the age of two or three. Where did he learn it? She learned it from TV. He was watching TV every day at home. He had no choice but to be influenced. His innocent and lively childhood was gone, so he was really unhappy now! Like me, I grew up in the countryside and didn't become sensible until I was thirteen or four years old; So I had a long childhood. It was really happy that she didn't know how to behave in her childhood! We don't know what is going on in the world. We just play all day long. If she was sensible, she would be unhappy! Why! It was difficult to judge a person by his appearance, so people in this era were not as good as the predecessors. It was too hard for people to do it. When one had a clear mind and intelligence, he could learn, see, listen and touch everything, because he had made up his mind and would not be influenced by the external environment. Since he had the ruler, the more he saw and heard, the more wisdom and willpower he would gain.
How did Zoe grow? He was not affected by the realm, which was to increase his willpower; Everything was clear that it was to increase wisdom, so at that time, studying would definitely improve her intelligence. This was the ancient teaching method - first to cultivate the ring, set, and wisdom, first to cultivate the basic wisdom, and then study. After reaching the consummation of true God realm, one would gain wisdom, which was omniscient. The Buddha said in the Scripture, "if you are ignorant, you know everything." so you should first cultivate ignorance. After learning the ring for five years, you should know nothing. Then when you come into contact with the society, you should know everything. The real cultivation was achieved in this way.
The ancient virtue not only abides by the rules guided by [释迦牟尼], but also takes the foundation of Buddhism as the foundation of cultivation. This is because Chinese Buddhism abandoned [小乘] and replaced [小乘] with the latter. Especially with Mr. Kong's character, as the foundation of our Buddhism, it is the five virtues of our husbands that are said to be gentle, kind, cautious, frugal and tolerant, that is, "good, respectful, frugal, concession.". What was more, Sanford, six and three schools, six degree and ten wishing kings would be built on it to achieve the true completeness. In the entire [大乘] Buddha Dharma, no matter which sect, sect, or secret sect, no one could leave this foundation and violate this principle. In other words, according to this structure, no matter which sect he studied, he would achieve something. Thus, we can say that the five virtues, six elements and the foundation are the characteristics of the [大乘] Buddhist method in China.
In addition, there was also a very advanced method in the teaching of Buddhism. It was not until recently that people thought of it - further education. When the Buddha was still alive, he had heard that his disciple, who had not graduated yet and could not be independent, had to be with the Buddha and could not leave the Buddha. It was the Bodhisattva who had achieved something; The Bodhisattva should help the Buddhism to develop into one side, namely, the Buddhist dharma, to build a Taoist temple in various places, to teach the Buddhist scriptures, and to promote Buddhism. But every year, she would come back to the Buddha again. It was like summer vacation. The students had a holiday, but the teachers didn't have a holiday, and the teachers had to go on their further studies. She had to go back to the Buddha and receive re education. These three months were called "Sheryl's residence". Sheryl's residence was to gather all the students who were engaged in education in all directions to listen to the Buddhist's words, so that they could be more sensible and learn more. Besides, they were also discussing with each other about various situations and difficult problems, as well as the solution to each other's reference and improvement. This kind of education method is rare in our country; This kind of summer education was very worthy of praise. There were still a few places in Taiwan that had this kind of life, but they no longer had this kind of spirit. Similar to this kind of temple, some hermit groups held summer camp, winter camp, Buddhist lectures, Buddha seven, meditation seven, and other kinds of further education, which was worth generally promoted. Speaking of breaking trouble, cultivating the ring, calming down, wisdom, and life and death, it's really rare in our world, and it's impossible for anyone to accept it. But the further education method was very competitive and effective. Nowadays, people had different ideas. They had to learn more at the beginning; They didn't know that there was a huge difference between the results. In the past thousands of years, many people had achieved in this way. On the contrary, the new teaching method can only help one person get a few doctorate of Buddhism and a little fame and fortune. In fact, it's difficult to cut off trouble, life and death, and go out of the three worlds. We should reflect on ourselves in [深深].
学佛:戒定慧齐修
那麽学佛从那里学起呢?
就是从念一部经下手。要不要懂意思呢?
不要懂!因为烦恼未断、福慧不具足,所理解的都是邪知邪见,都是错大误的。那麽为什麽要老念这一部经?诸位要晓得,念经跟禅宗参究修禅定没有两样;跟密宗三密加持没有两样,只是方法手段不同而已。念经就是戒、定、慧三学一次完成。
诸位要晓得,戒律就是「诸恶莫作,众善奉行」。
我们读经的时候,心里面不会乱想,当然「诸恶」就「不作」了。经典是佛从真如本性里面流露出来的言语文字,没有比这个更善的,因此,读经就是「众善奉行」。所以说念经的时候,戒律圆满了不要一条一条修了。念经的时候要专心,专心就是修定。
念的时候,从头到尾没有念错、没有念漏掉、念得清清楚楚、了了分明,这就是慧——修慧。所以念经是「戒、定、慧」三学齐修。如果我边念边研究,那就把佛经当作世间书,戒、定、慧三学都没有了,这个不叫修行。所以读经是修行的基础、是修行的根本,大家千万不要轻视。修行入门,如果是选用经典,就从这里下手。如果一天念一个钟头,你就修一个钟头;念两个钟点是修两个钟点,当然修的时间是愈长愈好。
我在台湾以及达拉斯的道场,有不少同修,无量寿经一天念十则他们大概已经念了二千遍以上,因此,经文很熟,念一遍大概只要半个小时到四十五分。一天念十遍,差不多有五、六个小时在修戒、定、慧每天有这麽长的时间修行,修上几年,心自然就定了。心定以后,再去看经,眼睛都放光了。为什麽呢?一看,意思就全部明了、全部懂得。佛经——是佛从清净心流露出来的,我们自己的心清净,自然跟佛相应,那怎麽会看不懂呢!今天我们看不懂佛经,就是佛心是清净的,我心是散乱的;散乱心跟清净心不相应,不能起共鸣,所以佛讲的我们听不懂,道理就在此。所以真正要能懂得亲近一位善知识、一位好老师,就要相信他不会骗你,他教给你的方法,一定不会错的。
老老实实选一部经∶修净土的选《无量寿经》;修天台的选《法华经》;修华严的就选《华严经》。你修那一宗、那一派,就修他本宗主修的经典,一门深入。先把本宗的经典老老实实的念五年;换一句话说,在五年当中一定要把烦恼舍掉,恢复清净心,这是学佛的起步。实在讲五年修得清净心,在从前是可以,现在不行了。因为从前的人,心地染污少、染污的程度也轻,五年清洗就差不多可以洗干净了。现在的人杂污太严重了,况且从前的人十几岁才受到染污,才会有是非、人我,才有贪、嗔、痴、慢。现在的小孩两三岁就有贪、嗔、痴、慢,他从那里学来的?从电视上学来。家里天天在看电视,他不得不受污染,天真活泼的童年没有了,所以现在人真的不幸福啊!象我,生长在农村,到十三、四岁才懂事;所以我的童年时间很长。童年不懂事,是真快乐!世间什麽苦乐我们都不知道,整天就晓得玩耍。懂事,就不快乐了!为什麽呢!会看人颜色,这难为了,所以说这个时代的人比不上前人,人不能做了,太苦了。修学到自己心地清净了、智慧开了,就可以参学,就什麽都可以看、可以听、可以接触,因为自己已经有定,不会被外在环境所转。自己有了主宰,见得愈多、听得愈多,愈能增长智慧、增长定力。
定、慧是怎样增长的?不为境界所动,这是增长定力;样样清楚明了是增长智慧,所以那个时候参学,定、慧更能往上提升。这是古人教学的方法——先修戒、定、慧,先修根本智,然后再参学,成就圆满的后得智,就是无所不知。佛在般若经上说∶「般若无知,无所不知。」所以要先修「无知」,五年学戒,就是什麽都不知道,然后再接触社会的时候,什麽都知道——「无所不知」。真正修行是用这样的次第、方法,来达到目的的。
古大德,不仅仅是遵守释迦牟尼佛教导我们的这些规矩,更以儒家的基础,作为修学的基本,这是因为中国佛教把小乘舍弃了,以儒家来代替小乘,特别是以孔老夫子的德行,作为我们入佛门的根基,就是论语上讲的夫子五德——温厚、善良、恭慎、节俭、忍让,即「温、良、恭、俭、让」。在这上面再建设的,就是三福、六和、三学、六度、十大愿王,而达到真正究竟圆满。这样的架构,在整个大乘佛法,无论那大渡一宗、那一个法门,宗门、教下,显教、密教,都不能离开这个基础,违背这个原则。换一句话说,按这个架构,次第修学,无论修学那一宗那一派,没有不成就的。由此,我们可以说∶从五德、六和上打基础,是中国大乘佛法的特色。
除此之外,佛法在教学上还有一个非常进步的作法,一直到近代才被人想到——进修教育。佛当年在世,他的声闻弟子——在身边还没有毕业,还不能独立,要跟佛在一起,不能离开佛的弟子。已经有成就的是菩萨;菩萨要帮助佛教化一方——代佛弘法——到各地方建道场、讲经说法、推广佛教。但是每一年有一定的时间,又回到佛的面前来,这就好象暑假一样,学生放假了,老师没放假,老师还要进修——回到佛陀面前,接受再教育,这三个月叫「结夏安居」。结夏安居就是把在四方从事教化的学生,统统召集回来,听佛讲经说法,使他们自己定慧、德学更增长。而且还在一起研究讨论教学上的各种情境和难题,以及解决的方法,作为彼此参考、改进。这种教育方法,在我们中国历代是很少见的;这种暑期进修教育,是非常值得称赞的。结夏安居,在台湾还有少数地方有这个形式,但是已经没有这种精神了。与这个类似的象寺院,或是居士团体,举办夏令营、冬令营、佛学讲座、打佛七、打禅七,也类似进修教育,是值得普遍提倡的。说到断烦恼、修戒、定、慧、了生死,在我们这个世间,确实是非常少见,说出来,也不可能被人接受。但是进修教学法是非常殊胜、非常有效果的。现在的人观念不一样,总是一开始学,便要学得愈多愈好;殊不知,其结果一个是有限,一个是无限,相差实在太大了。几千年来用这种方法,不知道多少人成就了。反观现在新的教学法,充其量只能帮助一个人得几个佛学博士学位,得一点名闻利养,实在讲,要断烦恼、了生死、出三界,恐怕很难很难,这是我们应当要深深反省的。
