15 talent rules that bosses must read

Invincible youth: How to be an invincible boss? The key is to attach importance to talents:

1. Put people first

The phrase "people are our most important asset" has been said by many business people. Sometimes it is just a topic for joking. Sometimes it is believed by some, but no one takes it as the core of business activities and the basis for leaders to allocate time.

I'm not saying that most enterprises ignore "people", but "putting people first" has its special meaning, which means "doing everything about people right", not just casually.

2. Persistent pursuit of talents

The most important thing to achieve perfection in everything is to focus (or invest time). If you want to control the talent competition, the first step you have to take is to put talents above all issues.

3. Don't look for mediocrity to fill in the blanks

If you are a talent connoisseur with no regrets, you will never accept inferior talents. You would rather leave a position empty - and force others to work harder to become talents - than easily find a mediocre person to "fill the vacancy".

In this creative era, talent is actually an omnipresent concept. Therefore, "pursuit of excellence" actually means "talents pursuing excellence" in every corner of the enterprise organization.

4. Attitude and enthusiasm are the key

Speaking of talent, what are you looking for? I slowly believe that the biggest test of leadership maturity is whether a person can cope with "invisible things". Every excellent coach has the same idea: attitude and enthusiasm are the key! If your action is a little slow, you can make up for it with enthusiasm and attitude.

5. Training! Training! Training!

You and I live in an era of "intellectual capital": 75% to 90% of the work done by the white-collar class will be replaced by a $239 microprocessor in the next decade. What have we done to make ourselves more valuable? Only training! Training! Train!. Ignoring training, we will pay for the future consequences.

6. Cultivate the ambition of being a leader from the beginning

The purpose of training should not be just to improve skills. The ultimate goal of training should be to cultivate "mature entrepreneurial spirit" in every employee who works for us.

7. Cultivate open communication

In the whole supply chain, if there is any bit of bureaucracy that hinders real-time communication between people, it must be uprooted.

With the new technology and the faster pace of change, people who act must be able to make decisions immediately, and good decisions can not be delayed for a second. This means that everyone must have access to all information. Sharing information is a must.

8. Adhere to the principle of "winning hearts and minds"

Phil Jackson, coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, who won nine NBA championships? Jackson, who won the eighth championship in 2001, said, "The job of a coach is to win the hearts of players."

Even if "player" refers to the staff of the room management department of a 300-room hotel, this sentence also applies. Only when they bring their spontaneous attitude to their work every day and turn the room management department into a "dazzling center of excellence" will world-class hotel champions appear, which must be because coaches (bosses) win the hearts of players one by one.

9. A leader is a person who can exert the talents of others

There are some people who are "knowledgeable", and others who are completely ignorant of this way.

Usually, we will promote technicians to the leadership level because they are the best technicians, not because they are "knowledgeable people".

However, in the competition for talent, the so-called leader refers to the person who can exert the talents of others. Organizations that love talents will promote those who know how to develop talents.

10. The deepest need of mankind is to be appreciated

American psychologist William James once said, "The deepest need of human beings is to be appreciated." And the most talented people will take their talents to the place they feel most appreciated.

Appreciation means many things: opportunities, financial rewards, and the company's emphasis on the balance between work and family. But the first place should be pure respect.

11. Express concern for employees' families

Some organizations really care about you as an "individual" and think you are not just a nine-to-five cannon fodder. Leaders of these organizations will pay more to express their concern for their employees' families.

12. Every employee is a unique person

It takes a lot of time to understand that managing talents is a job of "dealing with only one person at a time". Talent cannot be easily classified. We are all unique. One size only fits one person.

Can we use standardized human resources evaluation tools to measure American football players? No!

13. Respect young people

"Never before in history, children feel more comfortable and familiar with an innovation that is closely related to society than their parents," The Economist wrote. "The Internet triggered the first industrial revolution led by young people in history."

14. Create leadership opportunities

The way to create leaders is to let them lead. If you find an excellent person, let him take charge of something directly. right off.

Take advantage of the opportunity to divide the project into many small tasks, and find a young man with energy, courage and enthusiasm to take full responsibility. He's only twenty-three? So what? Leadership is independent of age.

15. Provide a stage for adventure

"For IBM, AT&T and other large companies," wrote Stimson, head of human resources at AT&T, "the future challenge is to inject the spirit of adventure into the recruitment process."

But it is not easy to change from the current practice. Perhaps we should start from changing the basic management logic: from "what they can do for us" to "what we can do for them".
