The land of China is rich in natural resources.
The five lakes benefit mankind.
China's five famous lakes have played a great role since ancient times.
So what are the five major lakes in China?
The five major lakes in China are Poyang Lake, Dongting Lake, Taihu Lake, Hongze Lake and Chaohu Lake.
Zhuge Changqing collected data on five lakes to share.
The five largest freshwater lakes in China are (Zhuge Changqing: The area of the five largest lakes is changing constantly, and the number of lake area is the current basic situation, only for reference):
The largest lake: Poyang Lake [p ó], 3914 square kilometers.
It is located in the north of Jiangxi Province.
The second largest lake: Dongting Lake, 2820 square kilometers.
It is located in the north of Hunan Province.
The third largest lake: Taihu Lake, 2425 square kilometers.
It is located in the south of Jiangsu Province.
The fourth largest lake: Hongze Lake, 2069 square kilometers.
It is located in the west of Jiangsu Province.
The fifth largest lake: Chaohu Lake, 820 square kilometers.
It is located in the middle of Jianghuai hills in Anhui Province.
What is the basic situation of the five major lakes?
How did the names of the five lakes come from?
The collected data of Zhuge Changqing's research are as follows:
1: Poyang Lake [p ó], located in the north of Jiangxi Province
Poyang Lake, the largest freshwater lake, covers 3914 square kilometers.
Poyang Lake, how did its name come from?
Zhuge Changqing found that Poyang Lake was named for its proximity to Poyang County.
Poyang Lake used to be called Pengli Lake, Penglize, Pengze, Penghu Lake, Yanglan Lake and Gongting Lake in ancient times.
Poyang Lake is located in the north of Jiangxi Province and the south bank of the Yangtze River. Zhuge Changqing: The Dragon King of Poyang Lake is responsible for this.
Poyang Lake is the largest freshwater lake in China. It connects the water of Gan, Fu, Xin, Rao and Xiu rivers and the Yangtze River, the largest river in China. Its annual water inflow into the Yangtze River exceeds the sum of the three rivers, namely, the Yellow River, the Huaihe River and the Haihe River.
The rivers that mainly flow into Poyang Lake include Ganjiang River, Fuhe River, Xinjiang River, Raohe River, Xiushui River, etc., and the Yangtze River. During the flood season, the total area reaches 4125 square kilometers. The average depth of the lake water is 5.1 meters, and the deepest depth is 30 meters. The wetland park here is one of the six largest wetlands in the world. There are 41 islands and seven nature reserves in the lake area, which is the habitat of rare birds. 90% of the white cranes overwinter in Poyang Lake, and it is also an important habitat for the Yangtze finless porpoise.
2、 Dongting Lake, located in the north of Hunan Province
Dongting Lake, the second largest freshwater lake, covers an area of 2820 square kilometers.
Dongting Lake, how did its name come from?
Zhuge Changqing's research found that the name of Dongting Lake began in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. It was named after Dongting Mountain in the lake (today's Junshan), which means the immortal cave.
Dongting Lake, formerly known as Yunmeng Lake, Jiujiang Lake and Chonghu Lake, is located in the south of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River in the north of Hunan Province. Zhuge Changqing: The Dragon King of Dongting Lake is responsible for this.
There are records of "Cloud Dream" in such ancient books as "Historical Records", "Zhou Li" and "Er Ya". Dream is the meaning of "Huze" in the dialect of the State of Chu at that time, which is similar to the word "receive".
Dongting Lake is located in the north of Hunan Province, across Hunan and Hubei provinces, connecting the Yangtze River in the north and the four rivers (Xiang, Zi, Yuan and Li) in the south. It is widely distributed. It once had a grand event of 6000 square kilometers in history, which is known as "800 li Dongting".
Dongting Lake is an important strategic place in history and the birthplace of traditional Chinese culture. There are many scenic spots in the lake area. The historical sites represented by "Yueyang Tower" are important tourism and cultural resources.
Dongting Lake is located in the south of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River in the north of Hunan Province. It is the second largest freshwater lake in China. The main rivers flowing into the lake are Xiangjiang River, Zishui River, Yuanshui River and Lishui River. The flood season is more than 3900 square kilometers, and the dry season is about 3100 square kilometers. The famous tourist attractions include Yueyang Tower, Junshan Mountain, Dufu Tomb, Yangmiaozhai, Tiejingzhuang, Quzi Temple and other scenic spots, as well as the "lake in the lake" of Dongting Lake, where the lotus seeds are famous at home and abroad.
3、 Taihu Lake is located in the west of Jiangsu Province.
Taihu Lake, the third largest freshwater lake in China, covers an area of 2425 square kilometers.
How did the name of Taihu Lake come from?
Zhuge Changqing found that the name of Taihu Lake originated from the founding emperor of the State of Wu, Taibo. The uncle and uncle of King Wen of Zhou of the Zhou Dynasty set up the State of Wu in the south of the Yangtze River, and established the capital as the city of Tai Bo. Tai Lake got its name because it was close to the city of Tai Bo.
Taihu Lake, also known as Zhenze and Lize, stretches across Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. It shows the beauty of nature here. There is a saying that "Taihu Lake is beautiful under the sky". It was formed from a huge meteorite, which fell from the sky like a thunderbolt, laying the foundation for the formation of Taihu Lake, so it was called Zhenze in ancient times. Zhuge Changqing: The Dragon King of Taihu Lake is responsible for it.
In ancient times, Taihu Lake was called Zhenze, Juqu and Lize.
For Yu Ze, there was the saying of Jiuzhou Jiuze in ancient times. Jiuze refers to:
Yunmengze (Dongting Lake), Meng Chuze, Continental River, Leize, Ono River, Peng Lize (Poyang Lake), Heze, Xingze, Zhenze (Taihu Lake).
It is said that Dayu once managed floods in the Taihu Lake area. According to the Shangshu Yu Gong, "When the three rivers enter, the bottom of the earthquake will be set". In the Xia Dynasty, Taihu Lake was still called Zhenze, but in the Zhou Dynasty, it was renamed Juqu, which was mentioned in Zhu You's "Zhenze Fu" in the Ming Dynasty: "The name of Zhenze in the Xia Dynasty, the name of Juqu in the Zhou Dynasty..." Now there is another road in Binhu District of Wuxi called Juqu Road.
The story of Taber running to Wu in Taihu Lake.
At the end of the Shang Dynasty, Gugongdan, the leader of the Zhou nationality in Xiqi (that is, King Tai of Zhou, the grandfather of Jichang, King Wen of Zhou), had three sons: Taber (also known as "Taber"), Zhongyong, and Jili. King Tai of Zhou likes his grandson Ji Chang (the son of Ji Li) and wants to pass on the throne to Ji Li.
When Taber and Zhongyong learned that, in order to avoid the dispute over the throne, they considered giving way. The two brothers left home and went to the south of the Yangtze River. At that time, the south was still undeveloped and relatively backward. Taber brought advanced culture and farming technology from the Central Plains, and was deeply loved by people. He was held as the leader and established the "Gouwu" State, which was the predecessor of the later Wu State. The capital city is located on the edge of Taihu Lake in the area of Meili, Wuxi today, and is called Taiboyi, hence the name of Taihu Lake.
4、 Hongze Lake is located in the west of Jiangsu Province.
Hongze Lake, the third largest lake in China, covers an area of 2069 square kilometers.
How did Hongze Lake get its name?
Zhuge Changqing found that Hongze Lake is named because it is composed of many lakes and lakes produced by flood.
Hongze Lake, located in the west of Hongze County, Jiangsu Province, is developed on the alluvial plain in the middle reaches of the Huaihe River, and is composed of many low-lying lakes. Zhuge Changqing: The Dragon King of Hongze Lake is responsible for this.
Hongze Lake is located in the west of Jiangsu Province, which was named in the Tang Dynasty. It was formed in many small lakes. During the Song Dynasty, the Yellow River seized the Huaihe River (the Yellow River poured into the Huaihe River) once, resulting in a large increase in water volume, connecting large and small lakes and expanding into lakes.
In the Qin and Han Dynasties of China, they were called "Fuling" lakes.
5: Chaohu Lake is located in the middle of Jianghuai hills in Anhui Province.
Chaohu Lake, the fifth largest lake in China, covers an area of 820 square kilometers.
How did the name of Chaohu Lake come from?
Zhuge Changqing found that Chaohu Lake was named Chaohu Lake because of its shape like a bird's nest.
Chaohu Lake, located in the middle of Jianghuai hills in Anhui Province, is the fifth largest freshwater lake in China. The total area is 820 square kilometers. Its source is from Mount Ying and Mount Huo. The main rivers entering the lake are Fengle River, Hangbu River, Zhaohe River, etc. Zhuge Changqing: The Dragon King of Chaohu Lake is responsible for it.
Let's protect the five lakes together, and let our great China be green forever!
