Zhuge Changqing, a researcher on the inheritance of traditional Chinese culture, believes that management should draw on the cultural wisdom of Confucianism, Legalism, Taoism, strategists and Buddhism. For example, we can learn from the sages and sages of Confucianism and Legalism to achieve eight words: leniency and justice, punishment of evil and promotion of good. These eight words are the wisdom obtained from the ancient sage Confucius (Confucianism) and the prime minister Zichan (Legalism) of the State of Zheng.

In ancient times, the son of the State of Zheng was ill. He said to his successor, Uncle Tai, "After my death, you will certainly be in power. (You should remember) Only those who have virtue can use lenient methods to make the people obey. If you feel that you can not reach the level of saints, it is better to use the method of" severe punishment and severe punishment ". (Give you a metaphor) The fire looks fierce, and the people are afraid when they see it, so few people die in the fire; The water looks weak, so people despise it and play with it. Many people die in the water. Therefore, it is very difficult to apply a lenient approach to governance. " Zichan died after several months of illness.

Uncle Zi became the subsequent prime minister and could not bear to be strict and manage with lenient methods. (As a result) There were a lot of thieves in the state of Zheng, who gathered in the lake called Cui Fu and acted recklessly. Uncle Zi regretted it and said, "If I had listened to him earlier, I wouldn't have reached this point." So he sent troops to attack the thieves of Cui Fu and killed them all, and the thieves were restrained.

When Confucius commented on this matter, he said: It is worth learning! If your management is too "loose and soft", the people will "neglect to obey orders". Because the people "neglect to obey orders", they will be punished with "severe punishment and strict law"; If you manage too much "severe punishment", the people will be "physically and mentally maimed", so you will treat them in a "relaxed and gentle" way. Use "loose and soft" to adjust "severe punishment and strict law", and use "severe punishment and strict law" to adjust "loose and soft", so the management will be harmonious and smooth.

The poem "Poems, Elegance and People's Labor" said: "The people are really too hard, but they want to be a little healthy. Love the people in the capital and pacify the princes." This reflects the leniency. "Don't indulge in deceit and deceit, and beware of villains' misdeeds. Piracy should be stopped, not afraid of villains' strong means." This is reflected in the use of strict methods to correct. "People from far and near love and protect our country and our king." This is to stabilize the country with harmony. He also said, "Don't fight, don't be impatient, don't be tough, don't be weak, and the management is just right. All kinds of benefits will naturally come together." This is the highest level of moderation and peace.

When Zichan died, Confucius got the news and said in tears, "He is a person who inherits ancient noble morality and benevolent spirit."

中国国学传统文化传承研究者诸葛长青认为,管理要汲取儒家、法家、道家、兵家、佛家等国学文化智慧。譬如,可以借鉴儒家法家的圣贤思想,做到八个字:宽猛相济、惩恶扬善。这八个字,是从古代圣人孔子(儒家)、郑国宰相子产(法家)那里得到的智慧。


古时候,郑国的子产生了病,他对继承者太叔说:“我死了以后,您肯定会执政。(你要记住)只有有德行的人,才能够用宽和的方法来使民众服从,如果感到自己达不到圣人层次,就不如采用“严刑厉法”的方法。(给你打个比喻)火看起来猛烈,百姓一看见就畏惧害怕,所以很少有人死在火里;水看起来柔弱,百姓就轻视水而玩弄它,有很多人便死在水里。因此,运用宽和的施政方法很难。”子产病了几个月后就去世了。


子太叔当了后续宰相,不忍心严厉而用宽和的方法进行管理,(结果导致)郑国的盗贼很多,聚集在叫做崔苻的湖沼里,胡作非为。子太叔很后悔,说:“要是我早听他老人家的话,就不会到这种地步了。”于是,他派兵去攻打崔符的盗贼,把他们全部杀了,盗贼才有所收敛。


孔子评论这件事的时候说:很值得借鉴啊!如果你管理过于“宽松柔和”,那么百姓就“怠慢不听命令”,由于百姓“怠慢不听命令”,于是就用“严刑厉法”来惩戒他们;如果你管理过于“严刑酷法”,那么百姓就会受到“身心残”,于是就用“宽松柔和”的方法来对待他们。用“宽松柔和”来调节“严刑厉法”,用“严刑厉法”来调节“宽松柔和”,管理因此也就和谐顺畅了。


《诗·大雅·民劳》中说:“人民实在太劳苦,但求可以稍安康。爱护京城老百姓,安抚诸侯定四方。”这体现的是宽和。“诡诈欺骗莫纵任,谨防小人行不良。掠夺暴行应制止,不怕坏人手段强。”这是体现用严厉的方法来纠正。“远近人民都爱护,安我国家保我王。”这是用和睦来安定国家。又说:“不争斗不急躁,不刚猛不柔弱,管理平和恰到好处,各种福禄自然就会聚集而来。”这是中庸平和的最高境界。

 

等到子产去世,孔子得到了消息,流着眼泪说:“他是传承古代高尚品德、仁爱精神的人啊。”


企业领导人如何管理企业?如何凝聚人心?中国国学传统文化,有很多智慧,值得借鉴。譬如:作为企业领导人,不论是董事长、总经理,还是中层管理人员,都要注意做到“宽严结合、惩恶扬善”。
