Introduction to the Bible:
The Bible is inspired by God and is the classic of Judaism and Christianity. Originally derived from the Hebrew kethubhim, it originally meant "article", and later it means "classics"; Graphai in Greek, Scripturoe in Latin, and "Jing" in Chinese.
The Bible is a classic belief of Jews and Europeans. It tells the history of ancient Jews and the LORD, and records the prophetic prophecies. When a large number of Jewish classics were translated into Greek texts, the Greek ta biblia (plural, originally meaning "books") was used to refer specifically to these classics; Latin is derived from the singular word Biblia, which later became the special title of the official classics of Judaism and Christianity, and the Chinese translation is "Bible".
The Bible is a fairly thick book with the same number of pages as a dictionary, but in fact, the Bible is not only a book, but a set of 66 books. There are advantages and disadvantages; There are ancient works as well as more recent works, including history, poetry, philosophy, and even personal letters and sermons. [2]
The official classics of Judaism include five volumes of the Book of the Law, eight volumes of the Prophet, and eleven volumes of the Holy Book, so they are generally called Tanak (which is composed of the initials of the three parts of Torah, Neviim, and Ketuvim), also known as the "Twenty-four Books".
Christian classics include the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament, the Bible of Judaism, is inherited from Judaism. The number and order of volumes of the book vary slightly from Christian denominations. The New Testament is a classic of Christianity, with a total of 27 volumes, including the "Gospel" which records Jesus' life, words and deeds, the "Book of Acts" which describes the situation of the early church, and the "Letters" and "Revelation" written by the apostles. There are 39 volumes in the Old Testament and 27 volumes in the New Testament.
The Bible, also known as the New and Old Testament, is composed of the Old Testament and the New Testament. There are thirty-nine volumes of the Old Testament, written in ancient Hebrew (including Aramaic) and compiled by Jewish priests according to the teachings of Judaism. It contains the cultural and historical data of the Jewish and neighboring peoples from the 12th century BC to the 2nd century BC. The New Testament has 27 volumes.
The Old Testament, the Bible of Judaism, is inherited from Judaism by Christianity, but the Old Testament is different from the Hebrew Bible, and the order of bibliography is also different. The Old Testament is followed by the Five Books of Moses, and the history books of Catholicism and Eastern Orthodox Church have added four volumes, namely, the Biography of Tobia, the Biography of Judith, the Biography of Magabel I and the Biography of Magabel II. Secondly, the book of wisdom (the book of wisdom of Solomon) and the book of didactics (the book of wisdom of Herach) were added to the collection. In addition, although the Christian Old Testament is also based on the Masula text, it inherits the Greek Bible in order and ends with the prophetic book, which is different from the tradition of Jewish Tanah ending with Chronicles. At the same time, in addition to the Masula text, the Old Testament of Christianity also includes the contents of the Dead Sea Scrolls, the 70s translation and other ancient texts. In addition, the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Scriptures also include the Epistles of Jeremiah, the Biography of Esther and Daniel, which are more than those of Esther and Daniel. Around 380 AD, the early church reached an agreement on the scriptures to be included in the Bible through screening.
The theological belief conveyed by the Jewish Bible is that the Israelites returned to their motherland after being exiled to Babylon, fulfilling the contract reached between God and Abraham and the later king of Israel. However, the Old Testament of Christianity does not focus on the theme of return, but ends with the prophecy of judgment and the prophecy of the coming of the Messiah (that is, Jesus). This is because according to Christianity, the prophecy of Jesus' coming and John the Baptist was prepared by the Old Testament. The third chapter of Malachi implies John the Baptist: "I will send my angel to prepare the way before me, says the LORD of hosts. The Lord you seek will suddenly enter his temple. The angel of the covenant, which you admire, will come soon."
The Bible is also a great historical work, which is the primary basis for investigating the history of the Hebrew nation, ancient Judaism and early Christianity. It is with the help of the historical information loaded in it that researchers have drawn a fairly clear historical picture: at the turn of the 3rd and 2nd millennia BC or shortly after, the first generation of Jewish patriarch Abraham moved to Canaan with his family, opening the curtain of the Hebrew national history. Later, it went through the migration of three generations of patriarchs, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the time when Moses led his people out of Egypt, the time when Joshua captured Canaan and the time when the judges were in power, the time when Saul, David and Solomon established a unified kingdom, the time when the two countries separated and successively fell, the time when they were imprisoned in Babylon and returned to their homeland, the time when they revived their homeland, and the time when they resisted the religious persecution and political oppression of the Hellenized country and the Roman Empire, This hard-hit and indomitable nation was finally driven out of its Palestinian homeland in the first and second centuries AD, and was forced to drift around the world. When the Jewish nation was caught in the tragedy of being uprooted, in the 1930s, Christianity, founded by Jesus of Nazareth, was born from its Jewish mother.
Since the mid-1930s, Jesus' disciples have established a church in Jerusalem, and then spread the gospel around the vast areas of West Asia, North Africa, South Europe with the momentum of starting a prairie fire.
