In the Ming Dynasty, there is a story about Liu Jing, who let go of life to prolong his life.
Liu Jing was from the Ming Dynasty and his father was a famous court minister.
Liu Jing was weak and sickly when he was young, and his five older brothers all died in succession, so his father was very concerned about his youngest son's well-being and had many fortune tellers come to read his fortune.
Zhuge Changqing: Many people like to tell fortunes, and there is no doubt that fortune telling is very accurate, especially through Zhou Yi predictions are very powerful. But what follows is whether you do good deeds and accumulate virtue. Only when you do good deeds and accumulate virtue will your fortune get better and better! The I Ching says, "A family that accumulates good deeds will be blessed with good fortune. A family that accumulates bad deeds will have a residual disaster". In fact, the purpose of Zhou Yi predictions is also to make people stop doing evil and do good, and to do good and accumulate virtue. To do good and accumulate virtue is to be moral, to be obedient to the way of heaven.
It so happened that a famous fortune-teller from Sichuan named Zhou Shi Lian came to the capital, so Liu Jing's father asked him to come to his home to tell his son's fortune. But don't despair, if you can work hard to repent of your karma and accumulate Yin virtue, you may be able to reverse your bad luck."
According to Zhuge Changqing, he would only have lived to the age of nineteen, but he continued to accumulate merit and virtue by releasing life into the world and lived until he was over ninety. This is the reason why the virtue of releasing life is so great.
After hearing these words, Liu Jing, at the age of seventeen, was determined to change his mind and turn to goodness, and from then on he took the Book of Merits and Demerits and the Book of Induction on Tai Shang as his code of conduct. After doing this for three years, he passed the difficult time of being nineteen years old.
One day, when he was crossing the Yangtze River in a boat, he saw a big turtle caught by a fisherman on the river. Liu Jing was so compassionate that he bought it and released it. "Your son has been doing good deeds for three years without slacking off, and now heaven has prolonged your life and increased your prosperity, but your body has always been weak, and you will inevitably suffer from cold. After saying this, he immediately taught Liu Jing the essentials of breath regulation and cultivation.
According to Zhuge Changqing, any tortoise with a large body size is usually of the level of a deity who has cultivated. When he rescued the tortoise, the tortoise would naturally be grateful. Many karmic people have written to Zhuge Changqing with messages saying that after releasing a tortoise, they dreamt of someone thanking them and of Buddha and Bodhisattva, all of which are similar sensations. It is true that releasing a tortoise to accumulate virtue changes one's fate. It's even more true that releasing a living creature to cure a disease and prolong life is an immediate effect!
When Liu Jing woke up, he knew it was the tortoise that had returned the favour, so he followed the methods he had learned in his dream and his health improved day by day. Later, he asked Zhou Shi Lian to come back to the capital to thank him for his teachings. That night he slept in the same bed with Xiang Shi Zhou, who woke up in the middle of the night and noticed that Liu Jing's nose was breathing very faintly.
When he woke up the next morning, he congratulated Liu Jing, saying, "Your son's bones have changed so much in the past few years, and when I slept with him yesterday, I knew that he had learnt how to breathe like a tortoise.
Later, Liu Jing lived to be 98 years old, and his children and grandchildren were all wise and wise, fulfilling the prediction of Zhou.
Zhuge Changqing: Liu Jing's ability to live longer was mainly due to the virtue of releasing his children for good deeds. Amitabha Buddha, it is very important to have firm faith and perseverance. It is important to have faith and patience in releasing beings, and not to become impatient after releasing a few beings.
If you keep releasing beings, you will be rewarded. If you keep releasing beings, you will get what you ask for.
However, many people have asked Zhuge Changqing how to have a quicker induction when releasing a life.
The induction, according to Zhuge Changqing, is related to the number of lives released and the number of karmic consequences of the debtors.
Everything is a process of quantitative change to qualitative change, and if you let go of life for a long time, you are bound to have a miraculous induction.
Liu Jing was determined and persistent for three years, and he passed the difficult age of 19 safely.
