The Way to Health and Wellness: Buddhist Mind Control and Health Preservation

Health preservation should start with nourishing the heart. Peace of mind is the key to health.

----Zhuge Changqing

On the way of life, health preservation is very important.

Peace of mind is the key to health preservation.

Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism all attach great importance to inner balance.

Buddhist culture also advocates starting from the heart, allowing people to see through life, enlightened wisdom, and inner peace.

Zhuge Changqing believed that reading more Confucian, Buddhist and Taoist classics and doing more good deeds such as respecting parents, releasing children and giving food would promote inner peace.

Buddhism believes that the human heart is like an ape, climbing around and delusions flying; Guard your heart like cattle, and you should always watch to avoid prisoners.

Sakyamuni Buddha was completely troubled, had a peaceful manner and a calm mind, so he was respected as the Buddha (the Awakened One), the Supreme Staff Member, the Supreme Husband, and the Master of Heaven and Man at that time.

Buddha Sakyamuni has been preaching for 45 years, and has handed down many ideas and methods that can regulate people's hearts, turn evil into good, and turn obsession into understanding, so that later generations have the sigh of "all the good words in the world are said by Buddha". This is also the origin of the eighty-four thousand Buddhist methods.

The regulation and balance of psychology is crucial to people's health and longevity. However, natural and man-made disasters, poor circumstances, human feelings and even ordinary sensory discomfort, verbal conflicts, and behavior irregularities may cause people to have feelings of joy, anger, worry, thought, sadness, fear, and shock, resulting in psychological imbalance. Over time, it will cause substantial physical and psychological changes or damage to people. Especially in the contemporary era, with the social transformation, the phenomenon of people's accelerated pace of life, material desires, behavior anomie, and moral degradation has increased, making a considerable number of people, including many children and adolescents, suffer from various psychological diseases. Therefore, understanding and being good at adjusting oneself is the key for people to settle down and live longer.

The art of mind control covers a wide range of areas, and all religions and schools have their own art of mind control. Among the three schools of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism in Chinese traditional culture, there are the definitions of Confucianism governing the world, Taoism governing the body and Buddhism governing the mind. It can be seen that Buddhism is good at regulating people's minds. Zhuge Changqing believes that in the busy life and work, you can take time to read the classics of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism to calm your mind.

He said that for 45 years, many ideas and methods have been handed down to regulate people's minds, turn evil into good, and turn obsession into understanding, so that later generations have the sigh of "all the good words in the world are said by Buddha".

The key to Yuxin is to develop and grow its own wisdom.

What is practice? Zhuge Changqing believes that practice is the way to correct your mistakes and return to the right path.

Managing your heart is the process of practice. How to control your heart? Zhuge Changqing suggested that we should pay more attention to the classics of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, do more good deeds such as filial piety and respect for teachers, thanksgiving, releasing life, and giving food, observe and think more about life, look more at the great virtues, good knowledge, and wisdom of sages, and always remind ourselves to "get rid of greed, hatred, and delusion" and "get rid of killing, stealing, and lustful alcohol", so as to keep ourselves clean all the time.

Let Buddhism divide wisdom into three types: listening, thinking and practicing. By reading and chanting sutras, listening to Dharma masters or good knowledge, we can increase our wisdom; On this basis, we should combine life, think rationally, and deepen our understanding, which is for wisdom; After you have wisdom, you should also practice as the law, make your body, mouth and mind clean, and verify the truth of the universe, which is in line with the wisdom of Buddha. Zhuge Changqing believed that it was very important for Buddhism to practice and focus.

There are many ways to control the mind in Buddhism. Generally, from coarse to fine, we should abide by some basic norms of conduct, such as the five precepts and ten virtues. Then we should practice meditation, such as chanting sutras and chanting Buddha, meditating and meditating, so that we can not concentrate on one place. Further, we must go deep into Zen (meditation), use wisdom according to Buddhist principles, and break through the confusion, greed, anger, and obsession in the subconscious.

From the perspective of health preservation, the basic requirement of mind control is to have a correct understanding of all kinds of disobedient realms in reality, not be seduced by bad words, rumors and other bad information outside, and not be affected by negative emotions inside, so as to maintain a rational and good attitude and take correct countermeasures.

Buddhist mind-regulating technique has great enlightenment on today's psychosomatic medicine. "In recent years, psychotherapists and experts in Europe and the United States have paid attention to the medical value of prayer, meditation and other activities of Eastern religions, and introduced Buddhist compassion, wisdom and 'unintentional' exercise into psychosomatic therapy," said the famous book "Self analysis" by Japanese physiologist Jiro Ikeda

Using scientific methods to measure the changes of EEG, rheoencephalogram and other visceral functions during meditation, it was found that it was very similar to the "quiet" state, indicating that the mind was very calm. Buddhist prayer is also a state of spiritual unity, which can play a good role in purifying the soul.

Many kinds of psychosomatic therapies designed by modern psychosomatic physicians, such as psychoanalytic therapy, self-suggestion therapy, progressive relaxation therapy, self-discipline training, Morita therapy, image control therapy, etc., are all to provide an effective technology to regulate the mind, exercise people's ability to adapt to life, and actively deal with inevitable contradictions in life with a wise attitude. Most of its principles and methods are derived from Buddhist meditation and yoga. The specific methods are to relax the body, regulate the breath, and visualize a certain image.

Buddhist mind control can be applied to people's daily life out of temples. The boundless Zen master of the Tang Dynasty once wrote a famous prescription for the world. He said, "Anyone who wants to rule the country, learn Taoism, and cultivate himself must take my ten wonderful drugs before he can achieve success. Zhuge Changqing believed that life needs to stick to his own foundation of life:

What is the name of Shiwei? Compassion, one piece; Good belly, one; Gentle, half; Rationality, three points. It is important to believe and act; Straight in the middle, one piece; Filial piety, very; Honesty, one; Stallion, all for use; Convenient, no matter how much.

This medicine is fried in a soothing pan. Do not burn or dry; Three parts of the fire can be removed and ground in an equal basin. Three thoughts are the end, and six molasses are the pills, which are as big as Bodhi. Take three servings every day, and send them down with the soup of harmony at any time. If you can take it according to this, you will be cured without illness.

Do not speak and act in a clean manner, benefit oneself and harm others, shoot arrows in the dark, get poisoned in the stomach, laugh at knives, two snakes, and make trouble on the ground. The above seven items must be warned immediately.

If you can use all of the former ten flavors, you can achieve happiness and longevity and become a Buddha. If you use its four or five flavors, you can also eliminate sin and prolong life, eliminate disasters and avoid suffering. None of the parties need it. Regret is useless. Although Bian Que and Lu Yi are ill, it is difficult to cure them; It is futile to pray to heaven and earth and wish the gods. What's more, this party will not be hired by the owner, will not cost medicine and money, and will not need to be boiled. Why not take it? Ji said:

This recipe is wonderful and natural. It doesn't need to be treated by Lu Shibian Que. We should always persuade good men to believe in women. We should not be suspicious of governance. "

It can be seen that the general spirit of Buddhist mind control is to have good intentions, say good words, do good deeds and do good deeds. Speaking of this, I also think of the "Eight Treasures Soup for Nourishing the Heart" recommended by Professor Hong Shaoguang, which is similar to the "Heart Prescription" by Zen Master Wuji, and may be borrowed from it. Nevertheless, it may be more suitable for the current people's cognition and mentality. He said:

"There is no absolute standard for people's happiness, so we should keep a balance of mind. The Eight Treasures Soup for Nourishing the Heart is the Eight Treasures Soup and Eight Medicines for really healthy soul.

The first medicine: a piece of kindness, full of love for the world. If this person is not full of love for the world, then this person is not good.

Second medicine: two inches of good intestines. A person is full of love and kindness to the world and is willing to help others.

The third medicine: three points of positive qi. Everyone should have integrity.

The fourth medicine: tolerance four money. Tolerance is more than righteousness.

The fifth medicine: filial piety is always there. We did a survey of the elderly happiness group, and the most important factor affecting the happiness of the elderly is not money and status, but having a filial child nearby.

The sixth medicine: be honest and moderate. People can't be too honest. It's not good to be too honest to be stupid. Honesty must be controlled according to the situation.

The seventh medicine: dedication is free.

The eighth medicine: no return. Put these eight herbs in the "ease pot" and stir them slowly. It is not too hot and not too impatient. It is just to think slowly and often. It is also necessary to put them in the "fairness bowl" and grind them carefully. The finer the better. Think twice before the end, and be indifferent to the guidance. When doing things, you should think twice and be indifferent to peace. wutong trees are big and small, and the soup of harmony is delivered. It is clear and bright. It can purify the soul, sublimate the personality, and not be surprised by honor or disgrace

It is said that "eight treasures soup for nourishing the heart" has six main effects:

First, be honest; Second, do things conscientiously; Third, contribute to the society; Fourth, enjoy life; Fifth, prolong life; Sixth, eliminate disasters.

I think this means that one should not only contribute to society, but also enjoy life. The enjoyment here means that people need more hobbies and have a wider range of knowledge. The more hobbies they have, the easier it is to balance their psychology. Of course, if you master some Buddhist knowledge and more Buddhist wisdom, it will not only be a temporary psychological balance, but will gradually become calm and relaxed, transcendental, awe-inspiring, and have the magic of being out of the dust.
