Master Zheng Yan said that release: it's a great blessing to abstain from killing and release

amitabha. Abstaining from killing and letting go of life not only saves the common people and accumulates good fortune, but also promotes Buddhahood and Taoism.

----Zhuge Changqing

amitabha.

People's blessings are earned by doing good deeds and accumulating virtue.

Abstaining from killing and releasing is a good way to accumulate blessings.

Zhuge Changqing studied the traditional culture and found that many sages, rich and noble families and ancestors have done good deeds and accumulated virtue, abstained from killing and set free.

Dharma Master Zheng Yan said that if you don't kill with mercy, you will let the Buddha live in the world.

Master Shizhengyan, whose common name is Wang Jinyun, whose legal name is "zhengyan", whose name is "Huizhang", is a native of Qingshui Town, Taichung County, Taiwan, and the founder of Tzu Chi Foundation. He founded the Merit Society in Hualien, following the teacher's order "for Buddhism and all living beings".

Before becoming a monk, the members of the Tzu Chi Merit Association called him Master Zheng Yan, and because he was stationed in Hualien, he was called Master Hualien in the early days, and also called Mother Teresa of Taiwan. A native of Qingshui District, Taichung City, Taiwan, and founder of Tzu Chi Foundation, he converted to Elder Yinshun as his teacher and adhered to the teacher's mandate "for Buddhism and all living beings".

In 1966, the Tzu Chi Merit Association was founded in Hualien County, which is the predecessor of the Tzu Chi Foundation.

Master Zheng Yan advocated "love and respect all life". Harmony between man and nature, abstinence from killing and release are the foundation of human happiness and well-being.

I want to know the world's sabre robbery, but I hear the midnight sound of the butcher's door.

Dharma Master Zheng Yan said to the compassionate people who do not kill, abstain from killing and release:

We know that in addition to "filial piety to parents" and "serving teachers", the first step in cultivating "net cause" is to learn the Buddha's compassion - "mercy does not kill".

Because all foolishness and spirituality have Buddha nature, and all sentient beings are afraid of death. So are they and all living beings. So we should have compassion when we develop Bodhicitta; Compassion is kindness, love and compassion. With benevolence and love, we will not harm the lives of all living beings, and know how to love and protect all living beings with compassion, while cultivating our compassion. Buddhism especially stresses compassion, which means great love. It includes everything. The so-called "heart is too empty to measure the sand boundary around" means that our love and heart should include all things in the world and all living things; Whether it is human or animal life, we should love and respect it.

In the world, sabre robbery originates from appetite

The disciple of the Buddha once asked the Buddha, "Why is there war in the world? When can the sabre stop? When will the world be peaceful?"

The Buddha replied, "If you want to know when the world is at peace, go and listen to the sound of the slaughterhouse at midnight first! Only when the slaughterhouse no longer utters the loud wailing sound, can the sabre robbery be ended!"

Because pigs were slaughtered in the middle of the night before, I wonder if you have heard the scream when pigs were slaughtered? Maybe I can't hear it now! At present, electric pigs are used to drive pigs into the slaughterhouse. Until the operation is completed, even the intestines and other internal organs are cleaned up without manpower.

However, it is found from medicine and science that many diseases are transmitted from meat bacteria. Newspapers and television news have also reported that Taiwan imported cattle from abroad due to insufficient supply of cattle. However, during quarantine inspection, it was found that all of them were infected cattle. They could not be killed for food, nor could they continue to be raised to avoid infection. They only wanted to find ways to eliminate the infected cattle and burn them, not only the meat could not be eaten. Even bacteria should be burned out.

This is the case when the imported cattle were quarantined. Are there any germs in pigs, cows, chickens and ducks raised in Taiwan? The answer is the same. Therefore, for our health, it is best not to eat. This is also a kind of compassion. Mencius said, "I can't bear to see it die when I see it live." When it bounces around, I can't bear to see it killed or dead; "I can't bear to eat its meat when I hear its voice." When Mencius passed the slaughterhouse, he heard a cry when the pig was killed. He was absolutely afraid to eat pork that day! This is Mencius' benevolence, his compassion.

Killing animals is a very cruel thing. Whether cattle, sheep, chicken, ducks or fish, shrimp, or crabs are caught and bound, they know that they will suffer from knife cutting and fire cooking when they are about to be slaughtered. The fear in their hearts is really unspeakable! When the sharp blade cuts the body, it is even more painful!

Zhuge Changqing: Amitabha. If you continue to release your life, you will be healthy, rich and auspicious, enlightened and wise, achieve everything you want, and everything will go well.

In order to satisfy the appetite of human beings, human beings use cruel and inhumane means to kill all living beings and make them bleed; But they are as spiritual as human beings. When they are killed, they must bear grudges. If there is resentment, there must be retribution. The cycle of cause and effect turns into a sabre robbery, causing human beings to kill each other.

So, how can the war and disaster in the world subside?

As Buddhists, we should have a compassionate mind. What's more, all living beings are often reincarnated in the six paths. Maybe the pigs, chickens, ducks... on the table are our parents' dependents in our past lives. How can we tolerate eating their meat for the sake of appetite?

Therefore, to be intolerant of eating all kinds of raw meat is to hold the five precepts, which is to show love. The five precepts are the five precepts that Buddha disciples must observe. If beginners think it is difficult to keep them, the "kill" and "drink" precepts must be followed first. "The ten virtues are easy to commit, and they should not be killed." The "ten virtues" are also the ten virtues that Buddhists should follow. If they think it is difficult to do it, it is better to hold them first, so as to cultivate our compassion. A person with compassion will naturally have good thoughts.

In short, to keep the precept of not killing is to invite the Buddha to live in the world and keep the Dharma changing; If we can establish ten good karma based on "no killing" and cultivate compassion and good thoughts, the positive Dharma will last for a long time.

In the early years of the Republic of China, there was an old monk named Miaolian at the Ziyun Temple in Nanshan, Zhangzhou, Fujian Province. He was still in good health at the age of more than 80 years old. He often taught the local residents the principles of compassion, abstinence from killing and retribution in simple terms: men and women, old and young, can be sincerely convinced by his instructions.

Zhuge Changqing: Amitabha. The old monk Miaolian has become an example for people to set free. To continue to release life is to save lives, to spread the Dharma, to save all living beings, to accumulate blessings, and to promote Buddhahood.

The Ziyun Temple will hold a three-day Dharma meeting on the first and fifteenth day of the first lunar month, which is opened by the old monk Miaolian; On these days every month, there are always a lot of people in the temple. Everyone wants to listen to the old monk.

The old monk Miaolian has to climb the mountain and cross the mountain alone in the early morning every day. He has to go around Ziyun Rock for a week. The wind and rain continue, and the frost and fog continue. One day, in the grass hundreds of steps away from Ziyun Rock, he found a sick snake about two feet long. It was wounded at the head and tail, stained with blood and smelly, and was dying.

The old monk Miaolian was merciful and decided to heal the snake. He found several kinds of medicine carts, mashed them and applied them on the head and tail of the snake. After handling them properly, he returned to the temple. The next day, when the old monk visited the snake again, it was gone.

Half a month later, there was a Dharma meeting in the temple. While the old monk was speaking, suddenly a snake climbed into the temple. Although the believers were afraid, no one hurt it. The old monk recognized that it was the snake he saved half a month ago and said, "Don't be afraid, let it in!"

The snake's wound was completely healed. It crept up to the old monk, then folded up obediently, looked up, and looked at the old monk with gratitude.

The snake seemed to understand the instructions of the old monk Miaolian; After the Dharma meeting, it crawled out. In the future, every time the temple holds a Dharma meeting, it will come to listen to the old monk's instructions on time. As long as it hears the truth of "abstain from killing", it will have a look of solemn understanding.

After more than a year, the snake has grown to about three feet long, and the monks and believers in the temple call it "Purple Cloud Rock Snake".

Zhuge Changqing: Amitabha. Everything in the world has spirituality. If you save them, they will be grateful to you for life The old monk Miaolian is praised for his mercy in helping the common people and promoting Buddhism.

One year, an infectious disease suddenly spread in the local area. Many people died of thirst, high fever and ineffective medicine stone. We were helpless, sad and panicked, and watched many people die.

Old monk Miaolian often takes his disciples to visit patients, but there is no way to cure them. One day, the old monk found that the snake had bitten many herbs and piled them on the side of Ziyun Rock; When the snake saw the old monk coming, it looked up at him as if to say something. The old monk carefully examined the herbs and found that they all had the function of detoxification and annealing: he had an idea and gave them all to the patient. The patient was cured immediately after suffering.

Later, the old monk collected the same herbs, mashed and dried them and made them into tablets, which became the popular famous medicine in Zhangzhou - "Pianzi Huang", commonly known as "monk medicine". I don't know how many people were saved!

Zhuge Changqing: Amitabha. This saved snake helped the old monk Miaolian save the common people, proving the law of cause and effect of good and evil retribution.

The old monk Miaolian loved all sentient beings, not only caring for human beings, but also insects, fish, birds and animals. Had it not been for his kindness to save the snake and touched its heart, how could there have been a later "Pianzi Huang" to save so many lives?

All living beings have Buddha nature and great love. The snake is the best example. I hope that in addition to loving human beings, we also love all living creatures. We should respect even the tiny life like insects and ants.

Merciful and caring for the students will bring good luck, and it is inevitable to harm the living creatures. Please pay more attention at all times!
