Don't eat at noon: 15 benefits of not eating at noon

Don't eat at noon. Generally speaking, don't eat in the morning or at noon, and don't eat in the afternoon or at night.

----Zhuge Changqing

amitabha.

Blessed life is limitless.

Most senior practitioners of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism do not eat at noon.

In fact, the reason for not eating at noon is that the practitioner's internal body is clean and there is no sense of greed, hatred and delusion.

Zhuge Changqing once explained a lot of content of skipping lunch in the Sina blog post "skipping lunch: what is skipping lunch".

Zhuge Changqing believes that those who learn Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism at home can slowly transition to not eating at noon.

Zhuge Changqing suggested that after 3-5 years of doing good deeds and accumulating virtues, taking vegetarian food, releasing life, chanting Buddha and giving food, you can slowly transition to not eating at noon.

If you don't eat at noon, it is only good for your health.

Because the practice of Zhuge Changqing has proved that for a long time (3-5 years), there will be a state of "being full of spirit and not thinking of lust, not thinking of food, not thinking of sleep".

1、 What is "no food at noon"?

Zhuge Changqing believed that the way to skip lunch for those who study Buddhism at home is to eat breakfast, lunch, afternoon and evening.

Generally speaking, I don't eat after 1 p.m. (in the morning and at noon, in the afternoon and in the evening).

If there is entertainment in the evening, you can have dinner.

The noon does not mean 12:00 noon. According to Zhuge Changqing, the noon is 11:00 - 13:00 in combination with China's actual situation.

Zhuge Changqing believes that those who study Buddhism at home can have breakfast, lunch, afternoon and evening without eating.

2、 Why not eat at noon?

Why don't you eat at noon?

Because after noon, the Yang Qi decreases and the Yin Qi rises. Eating food will aggravate the Yin Qi. In the morning, it is the day food, at noon, it is the Buddha food, and at night, it is the ghost food.

Zhuge Changqing suggested that after 3-5 years of doing good deeds and accumulating virtues, taking vegetarian food, releasing life, chanting Buddha and giving food, you can slowly transition to not eating at noon.

3、 What are the benefits of not eating at noon?

Buddhist sayings. There are five blessings if you don't eat in the future. One is less lewdness. The two sleep less. The three must be united. There is no disadvantage among the four. The five are safe and not ill. That's why Taoist Shamen knows his blessings and does not eat. (Book 0680 of the Mahayana Single-Translation Sutra, Volume 1 of the Buddha Saying Everywhere Sutra, translated by Shaman Anshigao of the Later Han Dynasty)

Not eating at noon is a precept formulated by the Buddha for monks. Practice at home can be combined.

In the law department, the correct saying is "not always eating".

That is to say, you can't eat outside the prescribed time. This time is from the sun to the middle of the afternoon until the dawn of the next day. Eating is not allowed during this time. Except for those with special physical needs (such as patients).

Eating after lunch will cause garbage to accumulate in the stomach and intestines, so not eating after lunch is the best way to clear the intestines. Because the small intestine and the heart are external and internal, clear the intestines and clear the heart.

If you eat too much or eat after noon, your meridians will be blocked. If your meridians are blocked, your body will be tired and your heart will be blocked. If your heart is blocked, your Taoism will be abandoned.

4、 There are fifteen advantages of not eating at noon.

There are fifteen advantages of "not eating at noon".

There are 15 reasons for not eating at noon in the Herbalist's Dharma:

The first is constant fat. Because if you eat at night, it will all turn into garbage, become fat and stay in your body.

The second is that our heart, lungs and kidneys will not be ischemic. If you eat too much at night and the blood goes into your stomach to help digestion, then heart ischemia, if you have myocardial infarction, is prone to sudden death.

The third is conducive to the practice of meditation.

The fourth is that when our body is hungry, the phagocyte activity in our body is the strongest, which can promote the phagocyte to eat those necrotic tissues.

The fifth is to keep our intestines clean. You don't need to go out for beauty treatment. Your stomach is clean, and your skin is naturally good.

The sixth is to help children grow taller. Because we eat a lot of dinner at night, the pituitary gland is in a state of relative ischemia. In addition, the blood goes to the stomach for digestion, so it will not fall into deep sleep, and will inhibit the pituitary gland from secreting a large amount of auxin, which is less, so it is not conducive to growth and development.

The seventh is that it is conducive to teenagers' learning and has a clear mind.

The eighth is that if you have dinner at night, and then go to watch TV and read books, your eyesight will be damaged, because your eyes will not get enough blood.

The ninth is that if you eat more food at night and have been digesting all the time, so in the morning, there is still ischemia in the muscle, which is prone to some industrial accidents.

The tenth, especially for young men, if they have more supper, their digestive system will always have to work and cannot rest, so their brains will also dream; In addition, if he drinks soup, his kidneys are also working overtime, so when he goes to bed at night, he dreams that he is urinating in his dream, and in fact, he has ejaculation.

The eleventh is that hungry ghosts will be hungry and thirsty when they hear the sound of bowls and chopsticks. There is flame in their throat and they will be worried.

The twelfth is to let all the internal organs and viscera work overload, and the aging will be faster.

The thirteenth is that it is easy to produce desire and increase the three poisons of greed, anger and ignorance.

The fourteenth is that if we can truly accept the eight-guard fast without food at noon, and even the merits and virtues of a day and a night, we can get more than 600000 years of food, and we don't have to worry about having no food in 600000 years. When we read the Sutra of Infinite Longevity, we can observe the eight-guard fasting for a short period of time, such as the Dharma, and even one day and one night. With the belief and willingness, we can see that the bliss in the future will be of the highest quality.

Fifthly, if we have been greedy for material enjoyment, our spirituality will be blocked.
