Don't eat at noon: what is the meaning of "don't eat at noon"

amitabha. Blessed life is limitless. Those who study Buddhism at home also need to make a slow transition to not eating at noon.

----Zhuge Changqing

amitabha.

Blessed life is limitless.

Most senior practitioners of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism do not eat at noon.

Zhuge Changqing believes that those who learn Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism at home can slowly transition to not eating at noon.

Zhuge Changqing suggested that after 3-5 years of doing good deeds and accumulating virtues, taking vegetarian food, releasing life, chanting Buddha and giving food, you can slowly transition to not eating at noon.

If you don't eat at noon, it is only good for your health.

Because the practice of Zhuge Changqing has proved that for a long time (3-5 years), there will be a state of "being full of spirit and not thinking of lust, not thinking of food, not thinking of sleep".

1、 What is "no food at noon"?

Zhuge Changqing believed that the way to skip lunch for those who study Buddhism at home is to eat breakfast, lunch, afternoon and evening.

Generally speaking, I don't eat after 1 p.m. (in the morning and at noon, in the afternoon and in the evening).

If there is entertainment in the evening, you can have dinner.

2、 What are the benefits of not eating at noon?

Buddhist sayings. There are five blessings if you don't eat in the future. One is less lewdness. The two sleep less. The three must be united. There is no disadvantage among the four. The five are safe and not ill. That's why Taoist Shamen knows his blessings and does not eat. (Book 0680 of the Mahayana Single-Translation Sutra, Volume 1 of the Buddha Saying Everywhere Sutra, translated by Shaman Anshigao of the Later Han Dynasty)

Not eating at noon is a precept formulated by the Buddha for monks. Practice at home can be combined.

In the law department, the correct saying is "not always eating".

That is to say, you can't eat outside the prescribed time. This time is from the sun to the middle of the afternoon until the dawn of the next day. Eating is not allowed during this time. Except for those with special physical needs (such as patients).

The noon does not mean 12:00 noon. According to Zhuge Changqing, the noon is 11:00 - 13:00 in combination with China's actual situation.

Zhuge Changqing believes that those who study Buddhism at home can have breakfast, lunch, afternoon and evening without eating.

3、 Why not eat at noon?

Why don't you eat at noon?

Because after noon, the Yang Qi decreases and the Yin Qi rises. Eating food will aggravate the Yin Qi. In the morning, it is the day food, at noon, it is the Buddha food, and at night, it is the ghost food.

Zhuge Changqing suggested that after 3-5 years of doing good deeds and accumulating virtues, taking vegetarian food, releasing life, chanting Buddha and giving food, you can slowly transition to not eating at noon.

Eating after lunch will cause garbage to accumulate in the stomach and intestines, so not eating after lunch is the best way to clear the intestines. Because the small intestine and the heart are external and internal, clear the intestines and clear the heart.

If you eat too much or eat after noon, your meridians will be blocked. If your meridians are blocked, your body will be tired and your heart will be blocked. If your heart is blocked, your Taoism will be abandoned.

If you eat dinner at 5-7 p.m., you will make the kidney meridian impassable, unable to turn back to rise to the portal fire, form the essence of filth, and promote the desire for love. Then, at 7-9 p.m., you will make the pericardium of the eighth knowledge impassable, unable to clear the evil spirit around the heart. For a long time, the heart that is living in it cannot control the gods, and the brain thinking is controlled by the evil spirit in the pericardium. Then, at 9-11 p.m., the triple energizer is blocked, the gallbladder and liver burden is heavy, and the detoxification and blood exchange function is reduced, When it is serious, it will affect sleep. It is not easy for the Yang Qi to rise in the early hours of the next day. At the end of the morning, it is difficult to remove the turbid matter accumulated in the intestines. It will form toxins in the body and enter the blood and viscera. At the time of the best absorption and nutrition stage, it will not think about eating, forming a vicious circle. At the noon, the heart is heavy, and the intersection of Yin and Yang is not good.

Therefore, not eating in the middle of life can keep the mind clear, clear mind and few desires, and both the body and mind are light and bright.

In terms of methods, we can slowly reduce the amount of dinner in the evening, and then achieve complete lunch without food.

The eight precepts in the Ten Gates of the Law of the Sea live close to each other. The fourth cloud is that if you eat at dusk every day and night, and if you pass the limit of middle food, or even if you abandon cooked food such as dried rice, cakes, soups and noodles between sunrise in the east tomorrow, you will have a sense of rest, a healthy life, a long life, a long and happy life, compassion and affection, and then go out of the three realms at once. All sentiments depend on food and shelter. If you can reduce your eating habits, your lineage will gradually break away.

The Sutra of Buddhist Relics says: You monks! Take all kinds of food and drink as medicine. Do not increase or decrease the quality of food and drink. It is interesting to support yourself to eliminate hunger and thirst. Like bees picking flowers, but taking their taste will not damage the color and fragrance. Bechuuer, who is supported by others, has no desire to get rid of his troubles, and his kindness is damaged. For example, the wise man should not overestimate the strength of cattle to exhaust its strength.

Generally, the fetus uses the navel to absorb nutrients in the mother's womb, and the fetal umbilical cord will beat.

Babies use abdomen to breathe, the longer the person gets, the higher the breathing point will move to the middle of the stomach, and finally the elderly with weak breath will use lung short-range breathing.

The first thing we need to do in our practice is to resume our abdominal breathing. Abdominal breathing can develop the Dantian, but if you eat too much, it will block the opportunity of Dantian, so the advantage of not eating in the past can revive the Dantian.

4、 How to do it slowly.

Zhuge Changqing suggested that the predestined can slowly transition to the noon without eating.

Zhuge Changqing suggested that after 3-5 years of doing good deeds and accumulating virtue, eating vegetarian food, releasing life, chanting Buddha and giving food, you can transition to not eating at noon.

If you don't eat at noon, it is only good for your health.

Because the practice of Zhuge Changqing has proved that for a long time (3-5 years), there will be a state of "being full of spirit and not thinking of lust, not thinking of food, not thinking of sleep".

1. How to do it slowly.

For beginners, you can change to a lighter diet, adjust the way of nutrition distribution, and gradually change to a vegetarian diet. In addition, you should eat well in the morning, eat enough for lunch, eat less for dinner, and never have supper.

Advancers can slowly switch to skipping lunch (having breakfast and lunch, which can be from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.). First, I will not eat at noon for one day every week, and then adjust it again after four consecutive weeks. At the slowest, I can gradually get used to not eating at noon within seven months.

When you have no lunch for one consecutive month, you can stop for five days, and then for another two months, you can stop for five days, and so on. When you have no lunch for five consecutive months, you can rest for five days. After the above adjustment process, you can stabilize the habit of no lunch.

The practice of not eating at noon is of great help to meditation. It can purify our body and accumulate blessings.

The diet of professional practitioners can be changed from no food at noon to one food in the day (the meal time is from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.), and the lunch time is gradually shortened (from 12:20 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.). The purpose of shortening the time is not to let us eat too much food, that is, although one meal in a day is the amount of one meal, not the amount of three meals.

In the process of diet adjustment, you can think more about your mind and give food, which makes you less likely to be troubled by psychological or physical hunger.

Also, fasting on the first and fifteenth days of the lunar calendar can remove the waste from the body, which is also of great help to meditation.

How to allocate dietary nutrients to help Zen meditation?

The nutrition of food is to people just as oil is to cars. When the car needs to be refueled, we must add the right oil without impurities so that the car can run smoothly. We should also cherish our body, that is, our personal treasure, and should not eat inappropriate food.

2. The following foods are not recommended:

(1) Artificial: such as soda, coke, sports drinks, etc.

Soda and coke will corrode teeth, stimulate stomach acid and consume calcium in the body. Sports drinks contain too much sodium ions, which will cause electrolyte imbalance in the body and increase kidney load, especially at night.

(2) Ice: lollipop, ice cream, cold drinks, etc.

Low-temperature food can stimulate inflammation of the esophagus, reduce the peristalsis rate of the stomach, and block the pulse.

(3) Irritating: tobacco, wine, coffee, cocoa, tea and caffeinated beverages. Smoke will block the pulse, alcohol will paralyze the brain nerves, coffee will stimulate the heart, cocoa is bad for the kidney, liver and large intestine, and tea will stimulate the stomach.

(4) BBQ, BBQ and fried: BBQ, fried dough sticks and instant noodles are not good for liver.

(5) Indigestible: fried rice, fried rice and fried noodles are bad for the stomach because they contain a lot of oil. Glutinous rice is not easy to digest because of its viscosity and is not good for the stomach.

(6) Too many seasonings: garlic, scallion, pepper and pepper will stimulate the mouth, esophagus and internal organs.

(7) Antimildew agents, antioxidants, preservatives and other foods containing these substances will damage the liver, brain and nervous system, so it is best not to eat them.

(8) Eggs or egg products: It is best not to eat them because they are easy to breed bacteria.

3. The following describes the proper food:

(1) Grains and cereals: Zhuge Changqing suggested 60-70% to eat pasta, and 30-40% to eat vegetables.

(2) Anti-cancer vegetables: kale, Korean cabbage, cauliflower.

(3) Tofu: can supplement protein and calcium.

(4) Fruit: apple, pear, peach, grape, papaya, avocado, lemon, etc. (except mango and pomegranate).

(5) Starch quality: white rice, oatmeal, etc.

(6) Eat more nut seeds: lotus seeds, pine nuts, sunflower seeds, hazelnut, etc.

(7) Replace soy sauce with crude salt.

(8) Cooking is better than frying or stir-frying.

(9) Water: drink warm water, boiled water, not cold water.

Because everyone's habits are hard to change over the years, they will change as long as they are adjusted slowly. Moreover, it is also very important to chew carefully and slowly. Oral chewing requires less energy; If you gobble it into your stomach, you need more energy to decompose it, which prolongs the time of food in your body.

Zhuge Changqing Sina blog has many articles on repentance, almsgiving, release, recitation, and vegetarian diet (you can learn Zhuge Changqing's quintessence of traditional Chinese culture). Those who have a chance can read more.

Huang Tingjian (Valley), a great poet of the Song Dynasty, believes in Buddhism. He eats porridge in the morning, eats at noon, and does not eat at noon.

Tang Bai Juyi's poem "Changqing Collective" 19 and "Xiaoni, the master of Longhua Temple": "The night is quiet and the forest is afraid, and the spring is deep and the food is hungry." It is a poem of heartfelt compassion for Buddhist disciples.

However, the ancients believed that not eating at noon is also the secret of longevity and health preservation. They also believed that eating too much at night is easy to cause disease. The Song people's perennial formula has the following sentence: "Sleeping at night without covering your head, only a few mouths for dinner." That is to say, it is better not to sleep at night with your head covered. Sleeping with the quilt covered, the air is not circulating, which is bad for people's health. And eating, even if you don't obey the Buddha's law - don't eat in the afternoon, but as long as you don't eat too much and eat less, it's good.

4. According to the Yellow Emperor's Internal Classic and the meridian ebb and flow of traditional Chinese medicine, the human body is closely related to the health preservation at all times:

Zhuge Changqing suggested that those who have a chance can look more at the Yellow Emperor's Internal Classic and the basic theories of traditional Chinese medicine to improve their health wisdom.

At midnight (23-01), when the gall changes the bile, people have a clear brain; Zhuge Changqing suggested that practitioners should rest around 9-10 p.m., not more than 11 p.m.

Ugly (01-03), the liver gave blood to produce fresh blood (Zi and Ugly had better sleep on the right side for health); Zhuge Changqing suggested that practitioners take a rest at about 10 p.m., not more than 11 p.m.

At Yinshi (03-05) (it's time to get up. Zhuge Changqing suggested that practitioners should get up at this time), blood should be supplied to the lungs and the lungs should be directed towards the hundreds of veins, that is, nutrition and oxygen should be delivered to the whole body, so when people wake up, their face is very good;

When Mao Shi (05-07) woke up, it was time for people to excrete. At this time, the large intestine opened and excreted clean;

At Chenshi (07-09), it's time to eat, and the stomach meridian is open, which is conducive to digestion; Zhuge Changqing suggested that practitioners must have breakfast at 7-9 o'clock.

It's already (09-11), and it's time to digest the nutrition. The spleen meridian is now moving;

At noon (11-13), a large amount of blood is supplied to the heart meridian. The heart meridian is very vigorous, and the sun is burning in the sky. In this case, the heart meridian is full;

At the end of the day (13-15), the small intestine was opened, the heart was fire, the spleen and stomach were soil, and fire produced soil. After lunch, the small intestine was quickly absorbed;

A lot of water will go away. At this time, when it is Shenshi (15-17), the bladder will open;

At Youshi (17-19), when the kidney meridian opened and the kidney stored essence, it was a busy day. At this time, all the money of the day was saved here;

In Xu Shi (19-21), the pericardial scripture was opened to check whether there were spies, that is, to eliminate all evil things;

At the time of Haishi (21-23), all the three energizers and hundreds of pulses were open, and it was time to recuperate. At that time, people began to sleep.

Zhuge Changqing suggested that practitioners should rest around 9-10 p.m., not more than 11 p.m.

  到了寅时(03-05)(可以起床了。诸葛长青建议,修行者这个时候可以起床了),把血供给肺,肺朝百脉,也就是把营养和氧气输送给了全身,所以人醒了以后,脸色是非常好的;
  当卯时(05-07)醒了,人该排泄了,这时大肠经开了,排泄干净了;

   巳时(09-11),消化完了该营养了,脾经这时动了;
  午时(11-13),血液大量供给了心经,心经很旺,烈阳当空,在这种情况下,一气哈成;

   未时(13-15),小肠经开了,心为火,脾胃为土,火生土,午饭吃完了,小肠赶紧给吸收了;
  大量的水分要走掉,这时到了申时(15-17),膀胱经开了;
  到了酉时(17-19),肾经开了,肾藏精华,也就是忙了一天,这时把一天的钱都存到这里来;
  戌时(19-21),心包经开了,查一查有没有特务,也就是把一切邪的东西给清除掉;
