Master Lianchi said: It is very important to release.

Why should we set free?

Master Lianchi said: People often say that the most valuable thing in the world is life, and the most cruel thing in the world is killing.

So when caught, they run for their lives, and lice also know how to avoid death; Migrate when it is going to rain, and ants are still greedy for life. Why should we pull a net on the mountain, lay a net in the deep pool, catch it in many ways, hook it with a curved hook, shoot it with a straight arrow, and search for it in every way, so that they can fall down and fly, and the mother ions can disperse? Some were imprisoned in cages, as if they were in prison.

Some were cut on the chopping board, as if they were faced with cutting. They are also sentimental, and the mother deer who pity the deer licks the wound and feels tender every inch; The old ape, who was afraid of death, saw the shadow of the bow and shed tears in his eyes. Relying on my strength to bully them is probably wrong. How can you tolerate eating their meat to fill your body?

He was allowed to become a monk by buying fish and releasing them. The love left by Zen Master Yongming Yanshou still exists. He saved the snake and got the secret recipe. Sun Simiao's kindness never dies. Many ants have been saved at one time. The little monk changed his short life to long life. The scholar Song Jiao changed his low ranking to the No. 1 Scholar.

In short, continuous release will bring good results.

The disciples of Master Lianchi once edited the "Illustrations of Abstaining from Killing and Releasing Lives", which enlightened many people.

There is a story called "Ant Killer", which is thought-provoking.

A resident of Yangzhou, Jiangning County, Jiangsu Province, surnamed Jiu, likes to tidy the garden and plant flowers and trees.

Once, because of planting flowers and digging soil, we found that the ant cave was as wide and deep as a big urn.

There were countless ants in the cave, so Mr. Chan poured boiling water into the cave, killed the ants, and then filled them with soil and planted flowers.

In the summer of that year, one day, Mr. Chan bared his chest and exposed his body, and was enjoying the cool in the courtyard. Suddenly, he found that there were numerous red spots on the muscles of his whole body. In an instant, the red spots turned into red bubbles, and each red bubble grew an ant. The pain was unbearable, and he died within a few days.

Note: The result of mutilating many lives is to fall into hell and suffer immeasurably. It is not a death that can cover up evil. Mr. Gui died of a strange disease, which is just the reward of his life.

戒杀放生，必有福报。行善积德，功德巨大。

   莲池大师说：放生非常重要。

   为什么要放生？

   莲池大师说：常听人说世间最贵重的是生命，天下最残忍的是杀伤。

   所以遭到捕捉就逃命，虱子还懂得避死；将要下雨就迁徙，蝼蚁尚且贪生。为何要在山上拉网，深潭中布网，多方面捕取，用弯曲的钩子钩，用直的箭射，千方百计搜罗，使它们胆落魂飞，母离子散？有的被囚禁在笼子里，如同身处牢狱。

   有的被放在砧板上刀剁，如同面临剐戮。它们也是有感情的，哀怜鹿儿的母鹿，舔舐着伤口而柔肠寸寸断；畏惧死亡的老猿，望见了弓影而双眼流下悲泪。倚仗我的强大而欺凌它们弱小，这个道理恐怕不对。食它们的肉来补自己身体，心中岂能安忍？

   赎买鱼类放生而获准出家，永明延寿禅师留下的怜爱依然存在。救了小蛇而获传秘方，孙思邈真人的慈风不灭。一次救活了无数蚂蚁，小沙弥改变了短命为长寿，书生宋郊改变了低下的名次为上第状元.......。

   总之，持续放生必有福报。

   江苏江宁县扬州居民姓咎，爱好整理园圃，种植花木。

　　有一次，因种花挖土，发现蚁穴洞，广而深有如大瓮。

   洞内有无量无数蚂蚁，咎先生便用沸水灌入，将蚂蚁杀死，然后取土填补，种植花卉。

　　当年夏季，有一天，咎先生袒胸露体，在庭院乘凉，忽然发现全身肌肉，有无数红色斑点，顷刻间，红斑变成红泡，每一红泡，长出一只蚂蚁，痛痒难忍，不到数天就死了。

　　按：残害众多生命，果报是堕入地狱受无量苦，并非一死就能掩盖罪恶。咎先生怪病而死，仅是这一生的花报而已。
