The ancients said that saving a life is better than building a seven-pole pagoda.

The sages of Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism in ancient and modern times all advocated abstaining from killing and releasing life.

From this, we can see how great the significance of release is.

Zhuge Changqing believes that releasing life is to save lives, to resolve grievances and creditors, to accumulate good fortune, to be healthy, to be harmonious in the family, to be rich and prosperous, to be auspicious, The benefits of release are countless.

The eminent monk Dade also concluded that there is a blessing for continuous release:

1. No armed robbery, no war killing;

2. Healthy and long life, happy and less disease; Those with diseases can recover.

3. Avoid natural calamities and disasters;

4. For generations to come, we will prosper and continue to live;

5. Many children are suitable for men;

6. The official salary is unobstructed;

7. Good luck and peace in all seasons;

8. Relieve injustice and revenge, eliminate all evils, and be carefree;

9. Be grateful to the Buddha and the Buddha, and the Buddhas are happy and blessed by the good gods;

10. You can live in heaven and enjoy the bliss of the infinite. If you also cultivate the Pure Land, you can live in the Western Paradise.

The meaning of releasing life is to pay off debts, and repay the countless debts we have created over the years.

You should know that retribution is not satisfactory at all. You must pay back your guilt and debts.

In this life, we have created countless debts to kill, not to mention from generation to generation!

So we should actively release our lives, save our lives, and repay our old debts in order to eliminate our sins and sins, and eliminate our karma! All living beings are equal in Buddhism. No matter what kind of life form, they are equal without distinction. They can understand, liberate and become Buddha. Killing animals first destroys the principle of equality among all living beings. Once the time is ripe, it will be punished.

At all times, no one has ever made an exception.

The concept of "protecting life" is because all living beings have the instinct of tending to happiness and avoiding suffering, and tending to live and fear death for their own life. In order to respect this animal instinct, we should avoid killing them.

The "Illustrations of abstaining from killing and releasing life" edited by Master Lianchi once told the story of Zichan, the prime minister of the State of Zheng.

In the Spring and Autumn Period, there was a prime minister of the State of Zheng named Zichan.

Zichan has a compound surname of Gongsun, an overseas Chinese, and is also called Zichan and Zimei. Zheng is called Gongsun.

He respected his parents and was willing to help others when he was young, especially for his continuous abstinence from killing and releasing, which was admirable.

He was a statesman and thinker of the State of Zheng during the Spring and Autumn Period. He was the prime minister of the State of Zheng for decades. He was benevolent and benevolent, valued wealth and morality, loved the people and valued the people, and made many achievements in politics during his ruling period.

Zichan is the grandson of Duke Zheng Mu and the son of the aristocratic kingdom.

Confucius praised him and said, "The virtue of benevolence is the legacy of the ancients, respecting the elders and caring for the people."

He is a philanthropist all his life, and especially does not love killing.

Whenever someone gave live fish to his son, he would ask his servant to keep the fish in the pond. When he saw the fish swimming in the water, he said happily, "What a wonderful place! What a wonderful place!"

When Zichan saw the live fish sent by his friends, he never had the heart to kill the live fish for the sake of enjoying the delicious food. It can be seen that Zichan's benevolence popularized the goods.

In fact, it is not only Buddhism that advocates cherishing things and life, but also Confucian sages and gentlemen should abide by it.

Why is Zichan so famous? Why can I be praised by Confucius?

Zhuge Changqing believes that the most critical factors are three:

First, be loyal to the monarch and patriotic and care for the people;

The second is the strategy of military strategy and the stability of the country;

Third, abstain from killing, release and accumulate blessings.

If the funds allow, you can set aside a few yuan, a dozen yuan or a few hundred yuan to set free.

If someone gives you a turtle, fish or bird, you should take it and release it quietly.

The release feeling is incredible.

Zhuge Changqing suggested that if you have time after release, you can recite the Buddha's name more and pray for the blessing of Buddha, Bodhisattva and the good gods to protect them from being caught. If you see hot fishing and catching fish, you can immediately recite "Nanwubaosheng Tathagata", so they can't catch it, Amitabha.

  古人说：救一性命，胜造七极浮屠（浮屠即是宝塔）。

  古今佛家、儒家、道家圣贤，都主张戒杀放生。

  由此可以看到放生的意义多么巨大。

    诸葛长青认为，放生就是救命、就是化解冤亲债主、就是积累福报、就是身体健康、就是家庭和睦、就是财源广进、就是富贵吉祥......，放生的好处真是多不胜数。

  高僧大德还总结说，持续放生有一下福报：

   1、无刀兵劫，免除战争杀祸；

  2、健康长寿、快乐少病；有疾病的可以的康复。

  3、免天灾横祸，无诸灾难；

  4、子孙代代昌盛，生生不息；

  5、多子宜男，所求顺遂；

  6、官禄通畅，无有阻碍；

  7、喜气吉祥，四季安宁；

  8、解冤释仇，诸恶消灭，无忧无虑；

  9、合天心，顺佛心物类感恩，诸佛欢喜、善神护佑；

  10、得生天上，享无极之福，若兼修净土，直可往生西方极乐世界。

  放生的意义就是还债，还今生累世以来我们所造的无数杀债。

  要知道因果报应丝毫不爽，有罪必报，有债必还。

  今生我们所造的杀债已不可胜数，更何况生生世世以来！

  所以我们要积极地放生，救赎生命，偿还宿债，以期灭罪消愆，消除业障！众生平等在佛法中，无论哪一种生命的形态，都是平等而没有分别的，都能悟道、解脱、成佛。杀生首先破坏了众生平等的原则，一旦时机因缘成熟，是必受恶报的。

  古今中外，从来没有一个人会有例外。

  “护生”的观念是因为众生对于自体的生命有趋乐避苦、趋生畏死的本能。为了尊重这种动物本能，所以避免伤杀恼害它们。

  莲池大师编辑的《戒杀放生图说》曾经讲述了郑国宰相子产的故事。

  春秋时代，有一位郑国宰相，名叫子产。

  子产复姓公孙，名侨，字子产，又字子美，郑称公孙。

  他从小孝敬父母、乐于助人，尤其是持续戒杀放生，令人敬佩。

  他是春秋时期郑国的政治家和思想家，在郑国为相数十年，他仁厚慈爱、轻财重德、爱民重民，执政期间在政治上颇多建树。

  子产是郑穆公之孙，贵族子国之子。

  孔子称赞他说:“仁爱之德，古人遗风，敬事长上，体恤百姓。”

  他一生好善乐施，尤其不爱杀生。

  每当有人赠送活鱼给子产，他便叫仆人把鱼蓄养在池塘里，眼见鱼儿悠游水中，他就心神舒畅地说:“得其所哉!得其所哉!”

  子产见到朋友送来的活鱼，从来不忍心为享口福把活鱼杀死，由此可见子产的仁德普及物类。

  爱惜物命，放生善举，其实并非只有佛教提倡，儒家圣贤君子也是应该遵守奉行的。

  子产为什么能名垂千古？为什么能得到孔子赞美？

  诸葛长青认为，最关键的是三个要素：

  一是忠君爱国、关爱百姓；

  二是文韬武略、安邦定国；

  三是戒杀放生、积累福报。

  如果资金允许，可以拿出几元、十几元、几百元来放生。

  如果有人送你乌龟、鱼类、鸟类，应当收下之后，悄悄放生。

  放生感应不可思议。

  诸葛长青建议：放生之后，如果有时间，可以多念佛号，祈求佛菩萨、善神加持，保佑他们不被捉到就可以。如果看到有热钓鱼、捉鱼，可以立刻念“南无宝胜如来”，这样他们就抓不到了，阿弥陀佛。
